Interview with Tamara Brink on her latest exhibition “VESSELED”
Moon: Aloha e Tamara, we are so excited to talk about you, your art, and your first exhibition with Polu Gallery!
Will you please tell us about your inspiration for this new series of paintings?
Tamara: This series of vessels that are adorned with tropical imagery represents how we present ourselves on the outside, and how that may or may not match what we carry on the inside. Some may sit empty and hollow, others host exquisite blooms never to go unnoticed. All are different, just like us all. We are all ‘Vesseled’.
Moon: Will you be kind to give us details about the material you use for your paintings?
Tamara: All of the 22 paintings in this ‘Vesseled’ series are painted with acrylic paint on stretched canvas. I painted all of these pieces simultaneously so it really made for a fun experience to be surrounded by so much art; all at different stages of completion all at the same time.
Moon: How do you feel about having your first exhibition in the Polu Gallery Hale’iwa?
Tamara: The Polu Gallery has always been my favorite gallery in Haleiwa and it’s such a thrill to be able to show my work in this lovely space. The Polu Gallery has such a wonderful aesthetic and I’m so pleased my work gets to be hung on its walls. What an honor!
